A new consultation is seeking views on preventing and managing aggressive behaviour in people receiving NHS or social care. The consultation is being held by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and intends to inform the continuous development of its guidelines and recommendations for health and social care providers.
Subject to registration, stakeholder organisations can now review and comment on the draft guidelines. NICE can accept comments from individuals, but they will not get a formal response and will not be posted on the NICE website. Wherever possible, NICE is encouraging individuals to submit comments through a registered stakeholder organisation.
The draft guidance covers primary, secondary and community care settings. It outlines practical steps organisations can take to create safer environments, reduce the risk of aggression and respond effectively when incidents occur. The consultation is open until 5pm on Wednesday 16th September 2026.
