Nominations are now open for the NAPA Awards 2017. It is an opportunity to nominate and celebrate those championing activities in any care setting.
NAPA, the National Activity Providers Association, is looking for nominations in five categories: four focusing on activity and meaningful engagement and the fifth for someone growing old disgracefully. The categories are:
Unsung Hero – The person who makes a difference to activity provision but rarely gets recognition. They might be found in any role from regional director to housekeeper. They might be a carer, volunteer or relative. Let NAPA know what makes the person special and what difference they make to the lives of those being supported.
Best Activity Co-ordinator – Activity staff have many and varied titles so all are eligible for this award. NAPA wants to hear about someone who is innovative and creative in the way they meet the needs of the people they support in a very person-centred way. They will be amazing at their job, have great community connections and go the extra mile to make a difference.
Best Project that Promotes the Arts in Care – The term arts is used as an umbrella description for everything from poetry to patchwork and anything else that stimulates creative expression. NAPA wants to hear about a recent project that has involved using the arts to enhance quality of life in a care setting.
Best Manager who Promotes the Whole Home Approach – This award is for a manager who puts meaningful engagement at the heart of care and has the skills to lead a team to deliver a whole home approach. Every member of the team will understand that how a person spends their day matters just as much as meeting care needs.
Grow Old Disgracefully – This award is for a resident who exemplifies NAPA’s vision that every care setting should be full of life, love and laughter. The judges want to hear about an older person who is living life to the full and fulfils the description of ‘growing old disgracefully’.
Nominations close at 5pm on Friday 30th June 2017. More information and an application form are available on the NAPA website. Winners will be notified by 31st August and will be invited to NAPA’s Annual Gala in London on 28th September.
