Voyage Care, a leading specialist social care provider, has launched its Fulfilling Lives for All manifesto. The manifesto sets out practical measures that, with the support of policy makers and politicians, aim to deliver huge benefits for the care sector.

According to Voyage Care, these measures have the potential to improve outcomes, increase efficiency and ensure the system is focused on high quality, personalised and consistent support that will enable people accessing care services to live fulfilling lives.

The manifesto was introduced by Jayne Davey, Interim Chief Executive Officer of Voyage Care. She discussed how Voyage Care’s experience has shaped the recommendations within the Fulfilling Lives for All manifesto and how it has set out its vision for a social care system that can meet the needs of everyone.

This will be achieved through a range of practical initiatives to unlock the potential of those that are supported by and those working in the care sector, Voyage Care reported. This includes establishing a new commissioner for adult social care, developing a consistent and efficient approach to how care is commissioned and establishing a compulsory national register of adult social care workers.

Jayne Davey said, ‘The warm reception for our Fulfilling Lives for All manifesto was further evidence of the will within our sector to achieve meaningful change. We are passionate about amplifying the voices of those we support.

‘A fresh approach is needed to meet the demands of this increasingly significant proportion of social care provision. We look forward to working […] to make this a reality.’

Voyage Care, who support 3,500 people across the UK with learning disabilities, brain injuries, physical disabilities, autism and other complex needs, launched the call for action at an event in Westminster chaired by Sir Robert Buckland, MP for South Swindon and Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Autism. Also speaking at the event were Sarah Owen, MP for Luton North and Co-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Adult Social Care and Simon Bottery, Senior Fellow, Social Care at The King’s Fund.
