Post-Budget impact: What does it mean for care providers?

Liz Jones is the Policy Director of the National Care Forum, joining the organisation in May 2019. Liz has a strong background in social policy, care and support and health and housing , with over 20 years’ experience across the civil service, local government and the charity sector including Methodist Homes (MHA), Nottingham City Council and Manchester City Council. Liz has strong research and analytical skills, along with consultation/engagement skills, and brings with her a passion for ensuring that the voices and views of the people and communities we serve are central to our policy development and implementation.

Jim Kane became Community Integrated Care's Chief Executive Officer in January 2023. Jim joined Community Integrated Care in December 2019, as Chief Financial Officer. Jim, a Chartered Accountant, joined us from Interserve Healthcare, where he held the role of Business Development Director for over two years. Previously, Jim held a number of senior roles at Virgin Care, including Director of Business Development and Commercial Director. He has previously served as a Trustee at Home-Start, a charity that provides support to families with young children during challenging times. Outside of work, Jim enjoys life as a dad to his daughter and son and is an enthusiastic supporter of their sporting endeavours. Jim also has a passion for cycling, Liverpool FC and being outdoors.

Natasha Curry leads the Nuffield Trust’s social care research and policy analysis programme and has explored a variety of issues including potential funding options and problems in the provider market in England. Natasha has a particular interest in the care systems of other countries and what England can learn from them. She has visited Japan and Germany to study their care reforms in depth and is currently engaged in studies looking at Denmark, France, the Netherlands and China. During Covid-19, Natasha collaborated with the WHO on their review of international responses in long-term care and has contributed to an international repository of covid-related learning at ltccovid.org. Natasha is also co-leading an NIHR-funded study with LSE looking at how other countries’ care systems fared during covid-19 with a view to identifying learning for England in building a more resilient system. Prior to joining the Nuffield Trust, Natasha worked at the King’s Fund, a health consultancy and a voluntary sector health organisation undertaking research, policy analysis and evaluation across a range of health and care topics.

Mel is the Executive Director of Adult Social Care, Housing and Homelessness in Somerset Council working as a system leader in health, social care and housing. Mel is also the chair of SW ADASS and the Use of Resources Co-Lead for ADASS. Mel joined Somerset in 2011 and held various roles within the council before becoming the DASS in Nov 2020. Housing has been a recent addition to her portfolio. Mel previously worked in BANES, Wiltshire, and Greenwich and began her career training as a registered nurse for people with a learning disability in Kent.
