Adult social care workforce consultation

February 23, 2018

The Department for Health and Social Care and Skills for Care are running an adult social care workforce consultation to seek views and evidence on what actions could be taken to address a number of workforce challenges specific to the adult social care sector.

It will feed into Health Education England's consultation to inform the development of a health and care workforce strategy for publication this summer.

The survey by the Department for Health and Social Care and Skills for Care will explore the following challenges:

  • Attracting and recruiting into the workforce.
  • Improving retention.
  • How to improve professional development.
  • The role of regulation.
  • Ensuring effective workforce planning.

As well as feeding into the joint health and social care workforce strategy planned for publication this summer, it will also inform the content of the forthcoming Department of Health and Social Care Green Paper on care and support for older people.

There are six questions in this consultation and they can be saved and returned to at a later date. Adult social care information submitted in the Health Education England consultation will be passed on to Skills for Care.

The Adult Social Care Workforce Consultation closes at 10am on 9th April 2018.
