Take-up of flu jabs by social care staff: Survey

The Care Providers Alliance (CPA) along with Care England are seeking evidence on the take-up of flu jabs by social care staff over the last winter period (2017/18).

It has launched an online survey to collate responses.

Free NHS flu jabs were made available in November 2017 for staff employed by a registered residential care/nursing home or registered domiciliary care provider, who are directly involved in the care of vulnerable residents/clients that are at increased risk to exposure to flu.

Feedback will be helpful in understanding how many staff in social care settings got the free NHS flu jab – and from this information the CPA can help inform preparations for next winter to ensure as wide as possible coverage of staff getting their free flu jab as early as possible.

CPA is looking to collate data on an organisation/group basis. If your service is part of a wider organisation/group, please record your data at this level.

Answers will be anonymised and collated into an overall report. Individual responses will be kept confidential and not shared with third parties. The survey closes on 28th February.

In October, the Government announced that care home staff would be eligible for free flu vaccinations. This was then extended to all social care staff directly involved in the delivery of care.
